Kamal Haasan with Gautami and daughter SubbulakshmiIn one of the most high profile splits in the Tamil film industry, actress Gautami Tadimalla announced that she was separating from veteran actor director-producer Kamal Haasan.
Describing herself as a 'mother, actor, survivor', Gautami admitted that it was heartbreaking for her to say that she and Kamal Haasan are no longer together.

The news of separation comes almost three months after it was reported that Kamal Haasan’s actress-daughter Shruti and Gautami had a showdown during the making of their latest film Sabaash Naidu, which had Gautami as the stylist-designer. Reportedly, Shruti was not happy with Gautami’s choice and had differences. Shruti, however, had refuted the rumors then.

Talking exclusively to a daily, Kamal Haasan said, “Whatever gives her comfort and solace is fine by me. My feelings at the moment are of no importance. What matters is that Gautami and Subbu should be comfortable and happy. I wish them all the best and want them to know I am there for them whenever they need me. I am blessed with three daughters — Shruti, Akshara and Subbulakshmi. I consider myself the luckiest father in the world.”
