“Rajappan chetan is better known as King of Parody since during this era, most of the cassettes that were sold were of Rajappan chetan's”, says actor and mimicry artist Kottayam Nazeer.
Talking about his contemporary VD Rajappan's demise, Nazeer says, “He was a motivation for many of us. It was his initiation that made each of us bring out our own audio versions of parody songs.”

“In an age when media was not very prominent, Rajappan chetan used to perform live on stage continuously for about two-to-three hours,” he said.
VD Rajappan was suffering from various age-related ailments and breathed his last in Kottayam on Thursday.
