After the din and bustle of Assembly polls, Mani C. Kappen, the LDF candidate from Pala, who is the main opponent of former finance minister and Kerala Congress (M) chief K.M. Mani, is to start work on a sequel to Meleparambil Aanveedu.
The movie released in 1993 was a blockbuster hit and Kappen himself was its producer. It had Jayaram and Shobana in lead roles, with Narendra Prasad, Jagathy Sreekumar, Janardhanan and Vijayaraghavan forming the support cast.
“I haven't decided the cast of the sequel yet, but Janardhanan and Vijayaraghavan will be part of it,” Kappen told Onmanorama in between the campaign trail. Kappen himself will produce, direct and do the script, he informed.
Kappen is also engaged in preliminary discussions with ace director Jeethu Joseph for a movie.
This would also be taken up after polls, he said.
“The movie is about a 13-year-old. I had discussed two plots with Jeethu, but he liked this one,” Kappen said. The movie will be titled 'Rose,' he said.
Kappen, who is confident of getting elected this time, is not worried that his political engagements won't be affected by the upcoming film projects.
The sequel will be titled Meleparambil Aanveetile Puthiya Visheshangal. Kappen had lost the last two assembly elections to K.M. Mani from Pala constituency, albeit by thinner margins. He is the Nationalist Congress Party candidate and is contesting with the clock as his symbol.
