Thiruvananthapuram: Manju Warrier reached the Regional Cancer Center here to bring some light into the lives of kids affected by cancer. The presence of the film star, who had come on a visit during Onam, helped kids to forget the pains in their life and they sang and danced to the occasion.

During the meeting she said, 'When you go home happily after treatment, you would be champions. My father and mother had this disease and now they are fit champions. My mother was treated here.' The words were encouraging to the kids.

Manju started the meeting with the question, 'Does anyone recognise me?'

The reply was quick, 'Yes, we have seen you in films.' The amused Manju asked, ' Who will then sing me a song?' An 8-year old came forward and sang a song for the star.

Manju then continued, ' You all came here because you are unwell. You do that when you are unwell. When you go back after regaining your health, you all should become champions.'

The Onam celebrations were conducted by Rotary Club. In order to raise the spirits of the kids, people dressed up as Vamanan and Mahabali. Manju took part in the Thiruvathira performance by women staffers. Rotary Club district Governor John Daniel, President Jayakumar, RCC superintendent Dr Ramdas etc took part in the function.
