Kottayam: The General Hospital in Kottayam caught the film fever on Wednesday when Nivin Pauly and company descended on the campus to shoot their latest movie. Hordes of people thronged the hospital to catch a glimpse of their favourite star who shot a few scenes inside the hospital.
Most of them, however, could only see the stern faces of the security guards deployed to keep the crowd away from the crew. The shooting for the Siddharth Siva movie, which also stars Sreenivasan, will continue on Thursday as well.
More drama was in store when Youth Congress members blocked the shooting, alleging that the hospital authorities had granted permission to shoot the movie at the government property without charging required fees.
The hospital management had charged Rs 15,000 as rent for the parking area for three days but the protestors thought the sum was too little. The blockade was called off after a representative of the movie’s producer agreed to pay an additional Rs 30,000.
Kottayam municipal chairperson Dr P R Sona and police officers held talks with the protestors at the hospital superindent’s office. Youth Congress block president Muhammed Ameen, Congress’s district secretary M P Santosh Kumar, Jobin Jacob, Boban Thoppil and Jeji Palaykkalodi had led the protests.
