Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Film Producers Association has said that they have not put any ban on director Renjith's latest film Leela. However, association president G. Suresh Kumar said they would release the film only after consulting all organisations in the industry.

"Discipline is applicable to everyone in the field, including Renjith. Hence, we can take a decision on releasing the film only after consulting with the organisations of producers and distributors. There won't be any hurdle for releasing the film once the issues are sorted out," Suresh said.

He added that Renjith is not a member of the association since he has not renewed the membership for the last two years.

Earlier, there were reports that the Film Producers Association and the Film Exhibitors Federation have put an undeclared ban on the release of Leela. The organisations were provoked by Renjith's act of starting the shoot of the film, despite the Producers Association going on a strike against Film Employees Federation of Kerala's demand for wage hike.

Reacting to reports of the undeclared ban, a fierce Renjith had said he would sell the CDs of his film by putting up a stall at the office of the Producers' Association if he will not be allowed to release it. He said he has decided to release the film in April.

The film, based on a short story by writer Unni R, features Biju Menon in the lead.
