Pooja releases: movies to watch outGear up for some festive fun with Mollywood superstars as Pooja releases of Mammooty and Mohanlal clash in the box office in a few days. October 7 will witness the release of an array of most anticipated films and movie buffs are eagerly waiting to see who will emerge winners.
But there are other players too who could spring a surprise. Here is the Pooja line-up for the avid movie buffs.
Pulimurugan
It's been over a year since Mohanlal began filming for Vysakh's Pulimurugan. The movie, in which Mohanlal plays the role of a wild hunter, also stars Kamalini Mukherjee, Jagapati Babu, Namitha, Suraj Venjarumoodu and Bala in significant roles. Pulimurugan will hit 160 theaters in Kerala and 165 theaters outside the state. The big budget action entertainer has got a clean `U’ certificate with a running time of 2 hours 32 minutes. The first show is slated for Friday at 8 am.

The teaser of Thoppil Joppan featuring Mamta, has already broken the record of Mohanlal's Pulimurugan trailer with more than 1.3 million views within a week of its release. Thoppil Joppan will see Mamootty in the role of Kottayam achayan (a term used to describe elderly men in Syrian Christian families) who finds respite in alcohol to overcome the pangs of a love failure. The movie, directed by Johny Anthony, also has Andrea Jeremiah and Mamtha Mohandas playing prominent roles. The family entertainer is slated to hit about 105 screens in Kerala.
Kavi Uddheshichathu..?
It was megastar Mammootty himself who unveiled the trailer of Kavi Uddheshichathu, which is set to clash with his most-anticipated movie Thoppil Joppan. The film is directed by Thomas Liju Thomas, who shot to fame with 'Ramaniyechiyude Namathil', a short film that went viral on YouTube. The film starring Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Naren in the lead roles also has Anju Kurian and Sija Rose in its cast. Produced by Asif Ali under his home banner Adam’s World Of Imagination, the fun-filled rom-com has managed to get about 60+ screens in Kerala.
Remo
Sivakarthikeyan’s Tamil big-budget comedy entertainer Remo also has a wide release in Kerala reportedly hitting about 90+screens. The romantic-comedy directed by Bhagyaraj Kannan and produced by RD Raja has Anirudh Ravichander's music, PC Sreeram's cinematography and Ruben's editing. Keerthy Suresh is the female lead in the film, which has Anson, Sathish, KS Ravikumar, Saranya Ponvannan, Rajendran, Yogi Babu and Aadukalam in supporting roles.
Devi (L)
After the blockbusters I, Baahubali: The Beginning, and The Jungle Book, popular production house Global United Media (GUM) is unleashing Prabhudeva's upcoming horror movie Devi(L) in Kerala. A special event was organized at Central Square mall, Kochi, where Prabhudeva along with actor Kunchacko Boban wowed the audience with their special performance. Devi(L), simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi stars Prabhu Deva, Tamannaah and Sonu Sood.
Mirzya
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s movie Mirzya, starring Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher has grabbed attention for bringing fresh faces. The film, penned by Gulzar, is a take on the tragic love story of Mirza-Sahiban. The film will have drama and action packed sequences and it seems to be visually rich.
