Traffic Hindi

When the 2 minute 14 second long trailer of upcoming Hindi film Traffic winds up, the credit in bold letters catches our eyes – Directed by late Rajesh Pillai, reminding us that the talented filmmaker is no more.

Over a month after his death, the trailer of the Malayalam filmmaker's Bollywood debut is here. And, even if you have watched the original in Malayalam, this trailer gives you thrills.

Sharing the trailer on its Facebook page, makers Fox Star wrote, “In memory of our director late ‪#‎RajeshPillai‬, we bring to you the official ‪#‎TrafficTrailer‬.”

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is seen as a traffic policeman, a role portrayed by Sreenivasan in the original.

Soon after the trailer was unveiled online, it became one of the top trending topics on Twitter.

Traffic is an emotional thriller based on a road trip from Mumbai to Pune. The story revolves around transportation of a heart for a heart transplant case, chasing a strict deadline. During the mission, the characters face numerous difficulties and traffic being one of them.

The drama-thriller is inspired from an actual event that took place in Chennai where a doctor couple donated organs of their 15-year-old son who died in a road accident.

The 41-year-old Rajesh Pillai died in Kochi on February 27 due to a liver-related disease, a day after his Malayalam film Vettah, starring Manju Warrier and Kunjacko Bobban, hit theatres. The film was completed while he was undergoing treatment.

"We made the film in one year and then we were contemplating on finding the right release. Now we found it. The only sad part is the director is no more and not with us when we have started promoting the film," Manoj Bajpayee had said recently.

Traffic, which also stars Jimmy Shergill, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Divya Dutta and Amol Parashar, is scheduled to release on May 6.
