After having a world premiere at the BRICS Film Festival in September, national award-winning director Jayaraj's most anticipated movie Veeram is all set to hit theaters.
The historical drama, which is touted to be the costliest Malayalam movie ever made, will release on February 24.
Veeram, starring Kunal Kapoor and Divinaa Thackur, will be brought to the theaters by Lal Jose's LJ Films.
The movie, which was simultaneously made in English and Hindi, is the first Indian production shortlisted under Oscar best film and best song categories. Veeram also boasts of four renowned Hollywood technicians viz., action choreographer Allan Poppleton (Hunger Games, Avatar and Lord of the Rings fame), Oscar-winning makeup artist Trefor Proud, composer Jeff Rona (Phantom) and colorist Jeff Olm (Monsters vs Aliens, Titanic and Spiderman).
An adaptation of Shakespear's Macbeth, Veeram will have North Malabar as the backdrop and take inspiration from its ballads, the Vadakkan Pattukal. Kunal will be essaying the role of Chandu Chekavar, the infamous hero of the stories in Vadakkan Patttukal.
