According to a few Tamil online portals, the actress' mother Ancy Paul played a major role in the separation. Ancy was reportedly disappointed with Amal's marriage to Vijay at such an early age.
Reports suggest that when Amala told them her wish to settle down with Vijay, Amala's parents opposed it as they wanted their daughter to focus on her career. Although both families didn't agree initially, they later gave in as the couple was going strong.
After almost a year, when Vijay's parents were against her daughter-in-law's career, it was Amala's mother Ancy who asked the actress to end the marriage and concentrate on her career. All major decisions in Amala life were taken by her mother, as per the reports.
Amala has not spoken on the matter yet.
