Mollywood's popular singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, 35, is gearing up for her big day. Viji, as she is lovingly called by her fans and well-wishers, will enter wedlock early this year. But what makes her more happy is that the she will get her eyesight.
Viji has been undergoing treatment for long and now, doctors have confirmed that she will get vision. Talking to Onmanorama, she said, ''The predicament is not completely curable but I can see shades of people or objects now. Though my vision is not very clear, I can see more light and a hazy image," she said.
Viji was deprived of vision because of a damage to the nerves in her brain before birth. She has been giving numerous performances on stage from her childhood, but it was the song Katte katte from the Malayalam film Celluloid (2013) that gave her the big break. She has 40 songs from 20 films in four languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Sanskrit and Telugu - apart from numerous devotional songs of different faiths, to her credit.
