Pathroda rolls are a unique dish that is commonly cooked during Karkidakam. The batter is spread on chembila or colocasia leaves and then rolled into pinwheels. These are then cooked in steam. Here is the recipe for pathroda rolls.

Ingredients
4-5 colocasia leaves
2 cups gram flour
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
¼ tsp asafetida
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp dry mango powder
1 tsp white sesame
1½ tbsp ginger-garlic-green chilli paste
Tamarind water as required
Salt
Water
Oil

Preparation
Remove the stem and the hard part below the colocasia leaves
Wash the leaves in water mixed with salt, turmeric powder and tamarind
Pat them dry
To prepare the batter, mix gram flour with coriander powder, cumin powder, asafetida, garam masala, Kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric powder, dry mango powder, sesame seeds, ginger-garlic-green chilli paster, tamarind water, and salt
The batter should have thick consistency
Place a colocasia leaf upside down
Scoop some batter and spread on the backside of the leaf
Place another leaf, with its backside touching the batter, over the first leaf
Repeat the layers until there are three or four leaves in a piece
Roll from three sides 
Cook in the steam for at least 25-30 minutes
Cut the rolls after they cool down
Rub some oil on a pan
Roast the rolls on both sides on low flame
Note €“ you could add some jaggery in the batter if you like them sweet.
