Kasaragod: Bundles of bank notes in the denomination of Rs 500 were found abandoned at Chittarickal town in Kasaragod district Tuesday.
The expired notes were cut into small pieces using paper cutting machine.
The Chittarickal police have taken the notes into custody. Sub-inspector P.V. Rajan said the police are yet to ascertain whether the notes were counterfeited or not.

Similar incidents of abandonment of notes in higher denominations were reported from several parts of the country after the central government announced demonetization of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes.
