Kumarakom: Renowned environmental economist Pavan Sukhdev loves Kumarakom at Kottayam in Kerala’s Kottayam district. Kumarakom tops the list of favourite destinations of Sukhdev, who had recently won the 2020 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement.

The love for the place prompted Sukhdev to set up a house by the backwaters in Kumarakom.

Originally from Kashmir, Sukhdev is a permanent resident of America. After the US, Sukhdev's favourite place on earth is Kumarakom. He visits Kumarakom frequently and often stays couple of days.

He bought a plot by the backwaters at Pallichira. He also built a house without harming the environment. Once he started staying in Kerala, he also became active in the social programmes.

His wife Vineeth and children Mahima and Ashima too like Kumarakom. Mahima's wedding was held at Kumarakom.

He had last visited Kumarakom to participate in a function at the house of his friend Joy a year ago.
