Investigations at firecracker-making units at Mavelikkara, Cheppad and Muttam finally led to the duo.
The arrested people are T V Sivaprasad, alias Bomb Kannan, (28) of Kayamkulam and Amal S Kumar (29) of Chettikulangara. The police recovered six swords, an S-shaped knife and two other daggers from their bike.

Sivaprasad was an expert in making weapons at home, said the police. Several swords and daggers were seized from a workshop of his. A case has been registered by Kareelakulangara police in this regard, said the DySP.
Picking up the clues
Taking clues from the magazine shreds police reached the firecracker-making units. A magazine at a Muttam unit had missing pages which were found to be the torn ones found at the crime spots. The factory owner told the police two men had purchased some crackers ostensibly for a festival at Kattuvallil temple on November 23. Later, one among the two men had reached the unit again two days later and bought more crackers.
