Kottayam: The world is dark for her, others may feel. But Karthika won't agree.

S. Karthika lost her eyesight when she was nine, a handicap in most cases, push the individual into the abyss of perpetual darkness. In case of Karthika, it didn't. She had set her sights high with a determination that propelled her to achieve academic excellence.

A resident of Trikkarthika at Karapuzha here, the Humanities student scored A-plus in all subjects when the Higher Secondary results were out yesterday.
A year ago, she had fallen short of 15 marks to touch the magical 1200, only to score 100 out of 100 in all subjects in Plus-Two exams.

Karthika, daughter of motor vehicles inspector M.B. Jayachandran and Shyama, studied in Karappuzha N.S.S. Higher Secondary School. She is the lone student who won A-plus in all subjects in the institute.

Karthika had achieved the same feat in Class X also, scoring A-plus in all subjects. She lost her eyesight following an illness when she was in Standard III. She pursued her education from a special school, but her parents shifted her to the N.S.S. School after she had passed Standard VII.

During the exams, Karthika dictated the answers to a student who wrote it on the answer sheet.
