He was neither remorseful nor agitated, in stark contrast to the people who had turned up to have a glimpse of the man who had killed his father and cut up the corpse. He was indifferent to the damning words from the women when he was brought to a spot near Puthanpalam at Chingavanam.
Sherin led the police to the spot where he had dumped his father’s head. He pointed to a green plastic cover. When the policeman who recovered the cover said that the cover was tied, Sherin said it was only a loose knot. Even seasoned policemen were shocked by the suspect’s nonchalance.
In fact, Sherin was being more than cooperative. He even pitched in with suggestions when the policemen sought ways to get the head to a vehicle parked on the road. He pointed to a basket. The policemen wanted to know if he had brought the head in that basket. He denied it.
He looked on at the decomposed head of his father without any traces of emotions. He remained composed throughout the recovery process at various places. He had dumped the body and the limbs at different places.
He answered all questions the police had. He spoke in English and Malayalam.
The police tightened the security cover for Sherin after he was manhandled by an onlooker at the place of recovery.
