Kollam: Sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a policeman, Aadu Antony finds himself a lonely man. The man who took multiple wives now shares a prison cell with another convict who rarely opens his mouth.
After hearing the judge pronounce the sentence on Wednesday, Antony told his lawyers and policemen that he had lost all hopes of getting out again. He said he would not even be let out on parole as the case involves the killing of a cop.
Antony was amused when he was asked if he had any plans to escape. “You need to talk to someone if you were to plan a prison break,” he said. Antony shares the cell at Poojappura Central Jail with another Antony, who is accused of multiple murders in Aluva.
“He does not talk,” Antony the Goat said. “When I told him that my sentence will be pronounced today, he just said, ‘go and get it’.”
Antony said none of his relatives or friends have bothered to visit him in jail.
There have been intelligence report that the convict plans to escape from the jail. Antony himself had dropped hints while he was lodged in the Ponkunnam Sub Jail on the way to be produced before the court in a theft case. He had told the fellow inmates that he would not be in for long.
He repeated the claim when he was put up in the Kollam district jail along with those accused in the fireworks tragedy at Puttingal.
