Marayur (Idukki): Seeking revenge for her husband's murder, a woman near here has killed the man, who allegedly made her a widow.
The police arrested Sugandhi, 38, a native of Periyanaickenpalayam near Coimbatore, in connection with the incident, which took place at the Kalipalayam bus terminal on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.
According to the police, she killed Ravikumar, 50, who was a friend of her husband Rangasamy, by crushing his head with a stone in public view.
Ravikumar had been the accused in the murder of Rangasamy, but was acquitted by the court recently.
According to the chargesheet prepared by the Periyanaickenpalayam police, Ragasamy was allegedly murdered by Ravikumar following a drunken brawl on the night of June 5, 2015. The accused smashed the victim’s head with a pestle, killing him on the spot, while he was asleep, it said.
The court pronounced its verdict on the case about two weeks ago, acquitting Ravikumar for want of clinching evidence and credible eyewitnesses. Sugandhi and Ravikumar had engaged in a verbal duel twice after his release, the police said.
