Thiruvananthapuram: Six youths, who threatened to commit suicide by jumping from a five-storey building in front of the Kerala secretariat over denial of appointment in reserve police force, have been brought down by the police.
Keeping police and firemen on tenterhooks for hours, the six youths, who threatened to commit suicide Monday, continued with their protest Tuesday.
The youngsters, all men, were protesting 'denial' of appointment in reserve police force despite their names figuring in the rank list six years ago.
Though the police Monday said that they had given up their threat after the intervention of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the group were back on top of the building, threatening to commit suicide.

The dramatic scenes began unfolding in the state capital Monday morning around 10 am.

After the intervention of the CM and other top officials of the home department, the persons atop the tree, came down.
The youngsters said they had been denied appointments even six years after the rank-list for the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) Thunderbolt was published.
The rank list, published by the state Public Service Commission (PSC), was due to expire soon.
Fire department personnel were present in large number with a cushion platform below the tree to meet any eventuality.

However, not satisfied with the government's response Monday, the youths continued with their protest Tuesday.
