West Bengal's BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh wondered why the female students were present when clashes broke out between Left-leaning students and activists of RSS student wing ABVP on May 6.Kolkata: West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh stirred a controversy, as he dubbing as "shameless" a section of Jadavur University female students for bringing molestation charges against ABVP activists.
Claiming the molestation allegations were "false", Ghosh wondered why the female students were present when clashes broke out between Left-leaning students and activists of RSS student wing ABVP after campus screening of Vivek Agnihotri's film "Buddha in A Traffic Jam" on May 6.
"Those who fear so much for their modesty, why did they go there? This is shamelessness. Making such allegations (of molestation) is very cheap. These girls don't deserve to be supported. They intentionally threw themselves on others and are now blaming others," Ghosh told media persons here.
"ABVP is a students' organisation and has all the right to reach out to the students. If they (left students) believe in freedom of speech, then others also have that right. Why would they question the entry of BJP or ABVP activists in the university.
"I feel very bad that being students of a university, they are bringing such indecent allegations. This is very shameful," he said.
"If they understand politics, then they should fight democratically, they should fight politically. They are bringing down the level of politics and trying to get sympathy like this," he added.
After the clashes, the university subsequently filed a police complaint against the ABVP activists for allegedly molesting female student.
This is not the first time that Ghosh has spewed venom against the Jadavpur students.
In March, he had threatened to "chop by six inches from top anyone who raised slogans of 'Pakistan Zindabad'". He had also prescribed the varisty students be "thrashed with shoes".
Ghosh's Saturday remarks were strongly condemned by a section of the varsity students and women activists.
