New Delhi: Former Indian team manager Sunil Dev has come up with a shocking revelation that the fourth Test between India and England in 2014 was fixed.

Dev was caught disclosing this in a sting operation conducted by a Hindi daily.

Dev, who is also the DDCA secretary, said that Indian captain M. S. Dhoni elected to bat in overcast conditions in Manchester because the match was fixed. He added that the skipper's decision came as a shock to the team management as they had decided to bowl first on winning the toss.

The 67-year-old claimed that he had told the then BCCI president N. Srinivasan about the incident. Though Srinivasan appreciated the information, he did not feel the need to make it public.

The Manchester Test ended inside three days with India losing by an innings and 54 runs.

Dhoni had top-scored with a fighting 71 in the Indian first innings total of 152.
