Kottayam: An unbeaten half-century by wicketkeeper-batsman Rohit Sharma helped Haryana reach 227/8 at stumps on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match against Kerala in Jaipur on Saturday.
Kerala medium-pacers Sandeep Warrier and debutant Vinod Kumar had left Haryana reeling at 104/6 before Rohit rescued his side.
Rohit has so far hit seven boundaries in his 135-ball knock.

Rohit and Yuzvendra Chahal (16) added 50 runs for the seventh wicket. The right-hander then put on 34 runs for the eighth wicket in the company of Mohit Sharma (24).
Rohit (51 batting) and Sanjay Pahal (24 batting) have added 39 runs for the unbeaten ninth wicket to take them past the 200-run mark.
Earlier, Sandeep and Vinod justified captain Rohan Prem's decision to put Haryana in to bat. However, the Kerala bowlers ran into a determined Rohit and his efforts have ensured Haryana a fighting total.
