The horrific incident of a woman doctor being raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata sparked widespread outrage and led to protests erupting across India.
However, the tests can only be done after permission from the court and the consent of the suspects.
The court said the National Task Force formed by the apex court will take note of the suggestions of all the stakeholders while formulating a national protocol for the safety of healthcare professionals.

The body of the PG trainee doctor was found in the hospital's seminar room on August 9. Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer the next day in this connection.
In a communication to the state police forces, the home ministry said that the law and order situation of all states should be monitored in view of the protests.
