National spokesperson of the Congress Pawan Khera said Sibal should contest the election for the post of Congress president, instead of making public comments against the party leadership.
The development comes two days after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) discussed threadbare the reasons for the party's debacle in these Assembly polls.
The UDF's attempt to raise the issue in the Assembly on Tuesday was stalled by Speaker M B Rajesh.
The senior Congress leader said he did not believe that the party will not survive without the Gandhis at the helm.
