The 10-year-old male tiger took the bait kept in a cowshed it raided two days ago. The tiger identified as W-43 had attacked 15 cows since September 25.
The Forest Department wants the felling of a nesting tree put off till the chicks are old enough to fly independently.
The male tiger fell into one of the cages set by the Forest department at Naimakkad, around 8.30 pm on Tuesday.
The Forest Department has put up three cages in the region to catch the big cat.
