The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Tuesday.
Due to heavy rains, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has issued red alerts at three dams--Moozhiyar in Pathanamthitta, Kallarkutty in Idukki, and Lower Periyar.
A red alert for heavy rainfall is issued in five northern districts in Kerala.
Orange alerts were issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad.
According to the IMD, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in the state for five days.
The restriction was imposed due to continued rainfall in the region.

The IMD has also warned of strong winds and rough seas along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts, advising fishermen to stay ashore till Sunday.
Inflow into other major dams in the district, such as Mattupetty, Kundala, and Ponmudi, has also significantly increased.
