India defeated Malaysia 4-3 to emerge champions in the Asian Champions Trophy.
The team will continue to be led by ace drag-flicker and defender Harmanpreet Singh while prolific midfielder Hardik Singh will be his deputy.
India will play against England, the Netherlands and hosts Spain in the tournament, which will serve as the preparatory event ahead of the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai followed by the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Upton, who has worked previously with the Indian men's cricket team in the same capacity, is scheduled to hold a three-part mental conditioning sessions starting Saturday at the ongoing national coaching camp in SAI, Bengaluru.
After the camp, the team will travel to Terrassa, Spain, where they will compete against England, the Netherlands and the home side in the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament from July 25 to 30.
India beat South Korea 2-1 in the final.
This was India's fourth title, having earlier won the tournament in 2004, 2008 and 2015.
This will be the team's first outing under new chief coach Craig Fulton.
Reid, who was appointed India coach in April 2019, led the team to a historic bronze medal finish at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Abhishek and Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace each at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium.
