Known as Bollywood's livewire star, Ranveer on Thursday took to his Instagram stories to post a meme making fun of his dressing sense.
Presented by Reliance Entertainment, '83' is being directed by Kabir Khan, and will see Ranveer playing Kapil.
The actor captioned the image: 'On my special day, here's presenting the Haryana Hurricane Kapil Dev.'
The film became a superhit on release in February.
The shortlist was culled from 91 eligible films.
Ranveer, known for his passion for cricket, entertained fans with a segment where he interacted with cricket stars such as Gavaskar, Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Brian Lara and Ramiz Raja, read a statement.
This will be the first time Ranveer and Deepika will be seen featuring together in a film after their wedding.
Gully Boy", produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, features Ranveer as an up-and-coming rapper who sets out to achieve his dream by rhyming about his life on the Mumbai streets.
