The final-year Mechanical Engineering batch of the LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod, won the V.R.R.R. Super Cup Football Tournament hosted by its UDSF College Union. It trounced second-year batch of the same department in an exciting final match. The senior boys beat their juniors mercilessly with a fair score of 4-1.

Rafeek of the victorious team was the show-stealer of the finals with a brilliant hat-trick.

Second-year Electrical-IT batch was the second runners-up behind the second-year Mechanical Engineering batch which emerged as the runners-up of the tournament.

Ihsan won the man of the match award. Fazal Rahman, Lasheen, Hari Govind and Thanseef won the individual awards for the best forward, defender, goal-keeper, and emerging player respectively.

The fate of the match was pretty much decided in the first-half, which ended 3-0, with the seniors claiming the ground. The juniors attempted to strike back in the second half with a stunning goal from Deeraj. However, when the fourth-year boys struck back again with a beautiful goal from Aflah, the junior boys lost all hope. After that, the game was all about one team trying to safeguard the ball from the other.

Irshad Ali, who is an I-League certified FIFA U17 Youth Referee, was the guest referee. He had the role of enforcing the rules in the mostly one-sided game. Azeem Waheed, second year CSE student, enriched the match with his powerful commentary.

Khalid Bellipady, president of Muliyar Panchayath, was the chief guest at the event. Physical Education instructor Joshua, principal Dr. Mohammed Shekoor, chairman

Nandakumar and sports captain Mohammed Rafi were present at the awarding ceremony.

Nandakumar and Rafi were in the forefront organising the whole tournament.

More programmes are lined up for the LBSians as soon as the football tournament and ongoing series examinations conclude. One of which includes My Story, a talk show in which successful personalities share their stories.

Students are eagerly looking forward to March 17 when an important event of My Story is scheduled.
