The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the counselling procedures for the countrywide admissions to the MBBS/BDS seats. Website: www.mcc.nic.in

These are the departments and institutions that can be entered as choices:

• Seat allotment for 15% all India quota in the government medical / dental colleges. Candidates belonging to the state of Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible to participate in the counselling for 15% all India quota.

• Deemed universities, central universities (Delhi – Lady Hardinge Medical College, University College of Medical Sciences, Maulana Azad Medical College) / Banaras Hindu University / Aligarh Muslim University), Pune AFMC (only choice filling open; the rest of the procedures have to be done through the AFMC), Delhi Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, ESI Medical Colleges, Jamia Millia Islamia (dental). Barring a few seats reserved for the special categories in some institutions, the rest of the seats come under the present counseling. The MCC conducts the centralized counseling for the candidates in all the categories.

The all India quota helps students study MBBS for low fees. You can check out the fee structure and other details of each college by clicking the ‘Participating Institutions’ link in the official website of the MCC. This would be of great help while doing the choice filling. Lady Hardinge, BPS Sonipat and Sri Padmavathi Thirupathi are medical colleges dedicated exclusively for women candidates.

Allotment procedures

• The qualified candidates can register and enter their choices on the official website of MCC. They can pay the registration fee and security amount and proceed to choice filling. Choices have to be filled and locked in. Those who get admission in the first round of allotment should report at the college within a limited time period to confirm the seat. As per the entrance procedures in Kerala, those who do not enroll like this will not get another chance in the medical stream. However, according to the procedures of the MCC, the ‘free exit’ allows the candidates to take part in the second round allotment as well.

• The second round allotment would be held to fill the remaining seats. Those who have already registered in the first round need not re register. However, they have to do the choice filling as the previous one gets cancelled automatically.

• Candidates can do choice filling in the second round for an up gradation while retaining the admission that they have secured in the first round. They can transfer to better choices, if allotted, or continue in the previous one. The higher choices that weren’t allowed in the first allotment would be cancelled automatically. If selected for a new allotment in the second round, the one secured in the first round would be cancelled. The choice filling for the second round should be done by keeping these in mind.

• The candidates, who have reported in a college after the first round, can voluntarily cancel this allotment if he/she isn’t allowed an up gradation in the second round. However, they have to cancel the allotment within two days after the declaration of the results of the second round. Else, the candidate would be considered as enrolled as per the second round allotment. Failing to do this, the candidates will not be able to try for MBBS / BDS admission anywhere else.

• The candidate, already reported at a college, can express interest for a different option in the second round. However, in case, he/she decides to retain the first one, the candidate can refrain from choice filling at this stage.

• Those who report at a college after the second round of allotment cannot leave the course. They will not be admitted to any other medical colleges in India after that. The admission heads will be informed to bar such candidates from participating in the forth coming counseling sessions. However, such candidates can leave the second round allotment but their security fee wouldn’t be refunded. Those who give up the security amount can participate in the mop up round by paying additional fee.

Certificates for the physically handicapped at Thiruvananthapuram

The physically handicapped candidates or persons with disabilities should collect their certificates from one of the 10 prescribed centres. Thiruvananthapuram government medical college too is included as a centre in this year’s list.

Admission schedule for the first round

Registration and choice filling: 19 – 24 June till 5 pm

Choice filling and locking: 25 June from 10 am to 5 pm

Allotment result: 27 June

Reporting to college: 28 June – 3 July

Second round

Choice filling: 6 -8 July, till 5 pm

Choice filling and locking: 9 July from 10 am to 5 pm

Allotment result: 12 July

Reporting to college: 13 – 22 July

There will only be two rounds of allotment for the all India quota. The vacant seats would then be transferred to the respective states.

Mop up round (Including deemed universities, central universities and central institutes)

Choice filling: 13- 15 August, till 5 pm

Choice filling and locking: 16 August

Allotment result: 18 August

Reporting to college: 20 – 26 August

If single seats are vacant after the mop up round, a list of students, ten times more than the total number of seats would be sent to the central / deemed universities to be filled in.

Fee structure

a) Deemed universities: Registration fee Rs 5000, security deposit Rs 2 lakh. No concession for anyone.

b) All India quota excluding the deemed universities: Registration fee Rs 1000, security deposit Rs 10,000. Total Rs 11,000. Rs 500/Rs 5000 for scheduled castes/other backward castes/persons with disabilities.

c) Candidates trying for both categories need to pay only the fee (a) using net banking /debit card.
