Romance is probably the most favorite muse of our artists. The excitement of love, the despair after rejection and the long-wait for your estranged one are some of the oft repeated themes in our art forms.

And bringing these different facets of love on to the same platform is KSDA Shishya Shringala with the musical-dance performance titled Ashtanayika.

Inspired from the 'Ashtanayika' mentioned in the Natya shastra (the age-old text on performing arts by sage Bharata), a team of eight artists would bring alive the nuances of love through classical dance forms. The program would begin with Rasleela, narrating the romantic tale of Krishna and his seven gopikas.

The performance will begin at 6.00 pm at VJT Hall in Thiruvananthapuram on August 23.

KSDA Shishya Shringala is the performing unit of Kalamandalam C.N. Satyabhama, who was tutored by renowned dancer Padma Shri late Kalamandalam V. Satyabhama.
