Action Hero Biju Nivin Pauly in _Action Hero Biju_ trailer. YouTube screengrab

The official trailer of Nivin Pauly's upcoming flick Action Hero Biju was released on Friday.

Action Hero Biju, helmed by Abrid Shine and starring Nivin and Anu Emmanuel in the lead roles, is one of Malayalam's most awaited films of the year.

The trailer promises an action-comedy entertainer and features Major Ravi, Saiju Kurup, Jojo George, Prajod Kalabhavan, Sajan Palluruthy, Kochu Preman and a host of other players apart from the lead actors.

Action Hero Biju will portray Nivin in a police officer avatar for the first time, and the trailer showcases the actor twirling his mustache in archetypal Mohanlal style.

The film, which is set for a February 4 release, is also the debut production venture of Nivin under his banner Pauly Jr Pictures. It also marks the second collaboration of Nivin and Abrid after their critically acclaimed and commerically successful 2014 flick 1983.

Action Hero Biju was scripted by Abrid and Muhammad Shafeeq and shot by Alex J Pulickal. Veteran music director Jerry Amaldev makes a comeback through the film, while Rajesh Murugesan has done the background score.

The film's first video song titled 'Pookkal Panineer Pookkal', a romantic number crooned by K.J. Yesudas and Vani Jayaram, was released a week ago.
