You can give your noon meals a tasty punch with chammanthi (chutney) and papads even if there are not many side dishes. And what if there are no papads too?

Don’t worry. You can prepare a crunchy alternative to papad if there is some boiled rice left over from the previous day. Let’s see how:

Ingredients
2 cups boiled rice
1 ½ teaspoon chilly powder
¼ teaspoon asafoetida powder
½ teaspoon sesame seeds
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
Salt (as required)

Preparation
Grind the rice into a thick paste in a mixer by adding chilli powder, asafoetida powder, and salt
Shift the dough into a vessel and add sesame and cumin seeds to it
Fix a star-shaped nozzle into the sevanazhi (piping bag) and fill in the dough
Press out the dough onto a dry cloth into single strings and if no sevanazhi is available, you may also do the same with your hands
Dry it under hot sun and store it in air-tight containers for longer use
Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the dough until golden brown and crispy And, here’s the tasty, spicy side-dish to boiled rice!
