Meanwhile, the Magistrate's Court has allowed the police to conduct DNA tests on Islam and the tests would be conducted at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram.
The police are analyzing all the surveillance cameras along the way Ameer ul-Islam traveled after the murder. The owner of the lodge where Islam stayed has also recognized him.
The police have so far collected evidence that point to Islam's presence at Vattolipadi on the 28th of April, using help from the Cyber Cell. However, they have not been able to prove a statement of a witness who said that he saw the accused in the area in the morning of the eventful day.
While the accused said that he committed the crime alone, his initial statements had cast doubts over Aneer ul-Islam, a friend of his. Aneer ul-Islam, who was questioned by the police, is absconding.
