Kochi: In a shocking incident, an elderly man commuted suicide by jumping off the Kerala High Court building in Kochi Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as K.L. Johnson, a native of Kadappakada, Kollam. From his appearance, it is being assumed that he was over 75 years of age.
While entering the High Court premises, Johnson told a security guard that he was there to meet an advocate. He wrote his name on the register and went up the stairs.
He then climbed on to the parapet of the 7th floor and even though frantic onlookers tried to dissuade him, Johnson jumped off the building and died on the spot.
His arms and limbs were severed in the impact of the steep fall.
K.L. Johnson, also known as 'Pulival' Johnson, had fought several cases in the interests of the public and was widely featured in the media. He was unmarried.
It is not known yet why he took the extreme step.
