Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Forests K Raju, Health Minister K K Shylaja, and Minister for Education C Raveendranath have been excluded from the list of ministers who have been nominated to go abroad for mobilising funds for the flood relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction programme.

The reason for keeping them out of the campaign is unknown.

Notably, a row had erupted over Raju's visit to Germany when the state reeled under heavy floods. It was confirmed that Transport Minister A K Saseendran would be sent to Germany.

Chief Minister Pnarayi Vijayan and Cabinet colleagues would visit countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, UK, Germany, the US, and Canada between October 17-21 as part of the massive resource mobilisation campaign.

The chief minister turned down the request from ministers to allow them to take their personal staff along. They will be accompanied by senior IAS officials.

Pinarayi Vijayan will head the resource mobilisation campaign in the UAE. He will visit Abu Dhabi on October 17, Dubai on 19, and Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al-Khaimah, Umm Al-Qaiwain, and Fujairah on 20. NoRKA principal Secretary K Elangovan will accompany him.

Finance Minister Thomas Isaac and Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran will lead the campaign in the US and receive contributions from individuals, institutions and organisations there.

Minister for Cultural Affairs A K Balan, accompanied by law secretary B G Harindranath, will visit Damam and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on October 18 and 20, respectively.

Water Resources Minister Mathew T Thomas will tour Saudi capital Riyadh on October 19 and Amsterdam in Netherlands on 21. Minister for Sports A C Moideen, accompanied by Kudumbasree executive director S Harikishore, will be in Omani cities Muscat and Salalah on October 19 and 20.

On October 19, Minister for Local Administration K T Jaleel will meet Malayali diaspora in Qatari capital Doha while Minister for Electricity M M Mani will oversee fund collection efforts in Bahrain.

The other ministers who will be reaching out across the world as part of the campaign are Industries Minister E P Jayarajan (Kuwait City, October 21) Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan (Singapore, October 21), Food and Civil Supplies Minister P Thilothaman (Kuala Lumpur, October 21), Minister for Fisheries J Mercykutty Amma (Sydney and Melbourne October 20, 21), Ports Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran (Auckland, October 21), Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran (London, October 21), Transport Minister A K Saseendran (Frankfurt and Berlin, October 21), Finance Minister Thomas Isaac (New York, Boston, Chicago, October 20-21) Public Works Minister G Sudhakaran (Washington DC, Texas and Florida, October 19-21), Agriculture Minister V S Sunil Kumar (Nova Scotia, Toronto, October 21) and T P Ramakrishnan (Colombo, October 17).
