Ettumanur: A case has been registered against two doctors at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital and two laboratories for administering chemotherapy on Rajani, a woman who had no cancer.
The case is based on a complaint filed by Rajani, who belongs to Kudassanad.
The police have charged Dr Ranjin of the surgery department, Dr Suresh Kumar of oncology department, Dianova lab, which gave a false test report and CMC scanning centre, where Rajani’s mammogram was done, with Sections 336 and 337 of IPC.
Rajani reached the police station to file the complaint along with her father Peethambaran. She is also planning to meet the chief minister on Monday and submit another complaint.
The final test reports had also proved that Rajani (38) did not have cancer.
The test was conducted at the lab of Kottayam Medical College.
Rajani had a lump on her breast and a biopsy at Dianova laboratory near Kottayam Medical College Hospital had first indicated that it was malignant.
However, the report was false.
Rajani was subjected to chemotherapy at Medical College Hospital based on this misleading report.
Meanwhile, a biopsy was done at the lab of Kottayam Medical College also. The report from this lab said that the lump was benign.
Another biopsy was carried out at Regional Cancer Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, which also certified that Rajani was not suffering from cancer.
Subsequently, the sample in the possession of Dianova was brought to the lab of Kottayam Medical College and examined.
It was after this test also proved negative that Rajani’s chemotherapy was stopped.
