Kollam: Movie-television actor R. Govinda Pillai aka Kochaniyan (72) has died.
Kochaniyan, who retired as a senior manager at the District Cooperative Bank, made his debut on TV by playing the lead role in ‘Arabikkadalinte Rani’ a sop telecast by Doordarshan. He ventured to the silver screen through Balachandra Menon’s ‘Karyam Nissaram’. He has acted in 25 movies, including ‘Nerariyan CBI’.
His final assignment was a serial named ‘Ezhu Rathrikal’.
He is survived by wife G. Nalinambika, daughters Swapna (Federal Bank, Aluva) and Pinky. Shyam P Nair and G S Narayanan are sons-in-law.
Kochaniyan’s cremation will be held on the compound of his house in SV Nagar at Puliyathumukku near Ayathil at 3 in the afternoon.
