The deceased was identified as PrasanakkumarAthirapilly: A newly-married man hailing from Kottayam collapsed and died during an outing at the Athirapilly waterfalls on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Prasannakumar, 32, s/o P. N. Chellappan of Pariyarath Veettil at Kolladu in Kottayam.
The incident took place at the head portion of the waterfalls around 3.30 p.m.
Prasannakumar, along with his wife Ponni, travelled to the picnic spot after visiting a relative in Malayatoor. He felt uneasiness before fainting while walking back from the waterfalls, a family member said.
He was first taken to the Athirapilly police station in an autorickshaw with the help of Tourism Police. Though he was rushed to the nearest private hospital in a police ambulance, his life could not be saved.
Prasannakumar was a staff of the Indian Coffee House’s Medical College branch.
His marriage with Ponni was on June 5. A native of Anakkallu near Kanjirapilly, Ponni is a post graduate student of St Thomas College, Pala.
His cremation will be held at 5 pm on Monday.
