Kottayam: 'She could be anyone' was the very apt theme of a street play on women's safety staged by the students of Pallikoodam school here Thursday.
The class XI students chose the Collectorate gate as the first venue and then moved to Thirunakkara bus stand. The call was clear: strict action against those involved in attacks on women.
The students also focused on the importance of brining about a change in the 'deceitful' mindset of men rather than asking women to modify their dress and conduct. They said every woman had the right to be respected and valued, and urged those who had been through distressful circumstances to not give up.
The students held placards which read, 'Politicians should stop covering up offenders' and 'those who protect women are real men.'
“The street play was organized to convey the message that it is important to give respect to women and that one shouldn't be a mere spectator while violence takes place against women. It is also to tell people that the victim could be anyone... it could be you," said Sabu, a teacher of Pallikoodam school.
The play was organized after a popular actress was abducted and harassed in Kochi recently.

The little ones are not those who wait and watch. They made a stage of a street and came up with a play to create awareness against the scourge of violence against women.
