"I am in no hurry as of now to launch a national party but keeping in mind that elections are likely to be held in Jammu and Kashmir, I have decided to launch a unit there soon," Azad said.
The G-23, the members of which were lampooned by the party loyalists after their letter became public on August 24, 2020, has virtually disintegrated over the last two years with the resignations of Azad and Kapil Sibal.
Azad said in his letter that at no place in a booth, block, district or state was an electoral roll published, nominations invited, scrutinized, polling booths set up and elections held.
Azad on Friday resigned from all party positions, including its primary membership.
He mentions in the letter that with some of his other colleagues, he will now persevere to perpetuate the ideals for which they have dedicated their entire adult lives outside the formal fold of the Indian National Congress.
The Congress had announced in October last year that the election of the new party president will be held between August 21 and September 20 this year.
