The Cheraman Masjid occupies a pivotal place in the Muziris civilisation that enjoyed glory as the ancient worlds greatest trading centre in the East.
According to historical documents, the synagogue built by the Jews who reached here in 1420 modeling on the Jerusalem synagogues was gutted in a fire.
