Not just the wildlife tourism zones, trekking trails and waterfalls across the district under the control of the Forest Department have been closed to visitors.
The animal was previously spotted over the past two days in the Bairakuppa forest region of Karnataka.
Earlier this week, a herd of about 20 elephants while crossing the road near Pillathode Bridge charged at the motorists out of no provocation.
The forest department has built canopy bridges using bamboo at the Marayoor – Udumalpetta Road for the grizzled giant squirrel and the grey langurs.
Kalan sustained injuries to the thigh and the others had to carry him for a kilometre before reaching the road.
When the animal ran into the kitchen and then entered the dining hall, customers were having lunch and hotel staff were busy supplying food.
The animal, in a serious condition, was spotted by the villagers in the morning towards 7.30 am, according to reports.
As temperatures drop, animals often grow a thicker coat to protect themselves from the cold.
Increased shedding, dry skin, and other winter-related issues can lead to discomfort for both pets and their owners.
The carcass was found in the early hours with porcupine quills all over the body.
