Apply for four unique PG courses at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun

Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, is a deemed university that offers extensive research and education in the field of forestry. Those who wish a successful career in this field can apply for four unique MSc programs at the institute. The applications should be sent via post until 19 April.

The three-hour online remote-proctored test has been scheduled on 22 May. The candidates must note that there would be negative marking for the wrong answers.

This grand old institute that is around 116 years old focuses on imparting modern and extensive knowledge about the forest resources in the country.

Programmes
1) MSc Forestry: There are 38 seats for this course. Candidates who are graduates in Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology or graduates in Agriculture/Forestry can apply.

2) MSc Wood Science and Technology: 38 seats are up for grabs. Graduation in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Forestry is the minimum qualification to apply for this course.

3) MSc Environment Management: 38 seats. Those who wish to apply should have graduation in a basic or applied science subject or in Forestry or Agriculture. BTech in Environment Science too is preferred.

4) MSc Cellulose and Paper Technology: 20 seats up for grabs. The aspirants should have BSc with Chemistry as a core subject or BTech in Chemical or Mechanical stream.

The applicants should have scored at least 50% marks in the qualifying degree. Candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe communities need 45% marks.

The post-graduate courses last for two years. Reservation is available for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Persons with Disabilities and in–service categories.

How to apply
The application form should be downloaded from the website, filled and sent via post so as to reach on or before 19 April. Besides, a draft of Rs 1,500 in the name of the Registrar, FRI Deemed University that could be cashed at Dehradun too should be sent. Those who are applying for more than one course should sent separate drafts worth Rs 1,500 for each course along with separate applications.
