Director Kamal's Aami, a biopic on late writer Madhavikutty aka Kamala Surayya, went to the floors Friday at Kamala Surayya Memorial in Punnayoorkulam, Thrissur.
The pooja ceremony was held at Madhavikutty's ancestral property. Ottappalam would be the main location for the first schedule, which will run till April 8. the poet's childhood portions will be shot first, revealed Kamal.
The second schedule will start after gap of two weeks. Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ernakulam are the other main locations.

A first look poster of Manju Warrier, who will bring to life Madhavikutty on silver screen, surfaced online on the day of the pooja.
The project, a dream one for Kamal, went through many controversies before starting to roll. Aami hit the headlines when Vidya Balan, who was initially casted for the role, backed out of the project.
