AMMA, WCC promise to work together

The crucial meeting between the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and three members of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) took place in Kochi on Tuesday.

The meeting was held in response to the letter issued by artistes Revathy, Padmapriya, and Parvathy on the move to bring back ousted actor Dileep to the association. After an initial discussion of about two hours, AMMA members met the media and told that the concerns raised by the women's group will be considered.

“The issues raised by the women members are true and we are considering changing the bye-laws and setting up a disciplinary committee”, said president Mohanlal.

Mohanlal further revealed that AMMA will hold a general body meeting following this executive meeting and discussions are yet to happen. “We will stand as one group and promise to work together," said AMMA members.

Apart from Revathy, Parvathy and Padmapriya, actor Joy Mathew and actor Shammi Thilakan, son of late actor Thilakan, was also part of the meeting.

The other artistes who were spotted at the meeting were Edavela Babu, Jagadeesh, Honey Rose, Rachana Narayankutty, Swetha Menon, Mukesh, Jayasurya, Baburaj and Aju Varghese.

The members also observed a minute of silence for former Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi who passed away on Tuesday evening at the meeting.
