Basil Joseph addresses confusion over Diana's voice message in ‘Sookshmadarshini’

Basil Joseph recently addressed the criticism surrounding the voice message linked to the character Diana in ‘Sookshmadarshini’. He clarified that after Diana's death, it was Manuel who forwarded her voice message as a WhatsApp message to Priya, played by Nazriya. Basil made this revelation during an interview with Mazhavil Manorama as part of the promotions for ‘Ponman’.
"It wasn’t a mistake. The message only says, 'I have reached here.' In ‘Sookshmadarshini’, Diana’s phone is with me. The voice note was something Diana had previously sent to someone else, and Manuel forwards it to Priyadarshini. Naturally, one might wonder why the message doesn’t appear as ‘Forwarded.’ But when I send a voice note received from someone else, it gets forwarded as a normal voice message. If it were a voice note originally sent by another person, it would appear as ‘Forwarded.’ However, if it’s forwarded from the sender’s phone itself, it won’t show that label," Basil explained.
In the film, Diana’s voice message appears on Priyadarshini’s phone. At that moment, Priyadarshini believes Diana is abroad. This led to audience confusion about how Priya received a WhatsApp message in Diana’s voice if Diana had already been killed.
