This renovated house in Aluva proves again that class is timeless

Robert decided to give his two storied house a stylish makeover when time began to take toll on the old structure. The rooms weren’t spacious enough and lacked sufficient supply of natural light and air as well. The family wished for an elegant house which had all the modern facilities and accommodated the interests of those who stay in it.

The architects at Active Design Private Limited have designed a house which perfectly suited the preferences of the family members. The owner wanted the renovated structure to have a unique and timeless design which goes well with the surroundings. Robert’s daughter Eileena too had contributed greatly to come up with the design which added many new features to the house, while some other were removed.

Active Designs’ innovative design which wisely utilizes the spaces and their unique ways of construction has made this house look chic. Besides, the interiors have become more lively and pleasant as well. The architects were determined to give the house of Eileena, a former Miss South India and current runner up of Miss Glam World, a stunning makeover. A spacious hall, where parties or get together, can be hosted, has been added to the first floor.

The old house had a stair-room, an adjacent dining space and a hall. However, these areas weren’t spacious enough and often looked congested. When the house was renovated, the part of the stairway, close to the hall, was modified and turned into a fabricated stair. A new cutting was added to the stairway which is visible from the hall.

The old kitchen was converted into dining area. Meanwhile, the previous work area became the kitchen with all the modern facilities. The open kitchen is adorned with light shades which make it look vast. A work area was newly constructed adjacent to the open kitchen. An elegant glass dado completes the kitchen. The TV unit is arranged in the dining area.

The sit-out roof had the height as the same level of the door which made the space look narrow and unappealing. The height of this area was increased making it look more spacious. The car porch made with GI sheet and polycarbonate is extended up to the boundary wall. Now, the car porch made with just polycarbonate sheet is spacious enough to park two vehicles.

Contemporary transformation

Many walls in the interiors were removed as part of the renovation works. The partitions were avoided to avail more space. The neutral colors which adorn the walls make the interiors look spacious and stylish as well. The entire flooring was redone. The old furniture is modified and reused. A work area and a toilet were newly added in the renovated house.

The patio in the ground floor is a highlight here. This area is designed in such a way that it draws in the beauty of nature outside. The hand-rails in the upper storey are replaced with steel rods which stand out as a designer element. Simple and elegant transformations could be seen in almost everywhere in the house. These changes have enhanced the overall look of the house making it more classy and stylish.

Exposed brick-works had adorned the upper floor before the renovation. However, the entire wall is now plastered. The family is happy and thrilled that their house has had an elegant makeover, that too by accommodating their demands and preferences.
