New Delhi:New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results for the Class 12 examination on Thursday.

"The results are available on the board's website and students can check it using their admit card IDs," a senior official said.

The results have been announced within 28 days of the last date of the examination. The overall pass percentage this year is 83.4%.

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar Thursday spoke to toppers of the class 12 CBSE examination and congratulated them on their success. He also advised those who have not cleared the exams to not get demotivated and work harder for next attempts.

"I have spoken to the toppers and congratulated them on their success. I congratulate all students who have cleared the exam and those who could not make it, they should not get demotivated and work harder for next attempts," he said.

"I am also happy to share that the Kendriya Vidyalayas have achieved a pass percentage of 98 per cent while the Navodayas have a pass percentage of 96 per cent. This is reflective of the quality of education available at our government-run schools," the minister said.

Hansika Shukla from Ghaziabad and Karishma Arora from Muzaffarnagar scored the top rank with 499 out of 500 marks. Rishikesh's Gaurangi Chawala, Raebareli's Aishwarya and Bhavya from Jind bagged the second rank, scoring 498 out of 500 marks.Neeraj Jindal and Mehak Talwar from Delhi are among 18 students to rank third in the exams. The Class 12 examination began on February 16, earlier than previous years. The results, which is usually announced by the third week of May, is also being announced earlier than scheduled.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's son Pulkit Kejriwal has secured 96.4 per cent in the CBSE Class 12 exam.

Nimmi Ved from The Choice School, Thrippunithara has secured the second rank in the special category with 485 marks.

Girls outshine boys

Girls outshone boys in the CBSE class 12 examination with Thiruvananthapuram region recording the highest pass percentage in the country. "Girls have a pass percentage of 88.70 which is 9 percentage points more than that of boys' 79.40 per cent. Transgenders have a pass percentage of 83.3 per cent," a senior board officials said.

Thiruvanathapuram has highest pass percentage

The board's Thiruvananthapuram region has the highest pass percentage at 98.20 followed by Chennai at 92.93 per cent and then Delhi at 91.87 per cent. Foreign schools affiliated to CBSE have also improved their pass percentage from 94.94 to 95.43 per cent.

Around 13 lakh students appeared for the examination.
